“What makes me happy is the fact that I know that I’ve been able to put a smile on the faces of the individuals that I have supported.” – Isaac, support worker.

Isaac’s person-centred approach

The same thing applies to the approach that Isaac, our support worker, uses while doing the job he loves. We sat down and spent a day with him, trying to catch a glimpse of his daily routine and how he manages to be genuinely loved by the individuals he supports.

“I’ve got quite a lot of examples where, after the shift, there’s a way to say thank you. There’s a way to say thank you for what you’ve done today. It’s not just about saying, it’s the facial expression that gives me the joy to know that I’ve been able to help this person today.”

The Mentor becomes a Mentee

In such a harmonious connection, the appreciation and the learning also go the other way around. Isaac managed to learn a few things from the individual he is supporting.

“Before I started working with him, I used to be an introvert, where I just sit down in the house when I’m not working. So, since I started working with him, I’m more of an outdoor person. He has shown me a lot of places, a lot of activities which involve swimming. He actually taught me how to swim. And I would say, generally, he has really helped me.”

The Impact

Isaac’s continuous commitment to deliver the best person-centred, tailored, complex care is a testament to a support worker’s profound impact on an individual’s life. Beyond the daily tasks and responsibilities, the role becomes a catalyst for personal growth, a source of inspiration, and a beacon of hope.

“I feel like this is my little way of giving back to the society and also I believe it’s a universal way of showing love,” said Isaac at the end of our interview, and he couldn’t have said it better.

The Gratitude

Our support workers are the ones who melt our hearts and warm our souls.
All thanks to their endless love, passion and commitment.
And not to forget their quest for smiles.

We are eternally grateful for your dedication Isaac.
Keep on with what you are doing the best!
